Chertsey: Host Family Centre

CHERTSEY is one of the oldest towns in Britain. It is situated near Woking on the River Thames in Surrey and is just 29km from central London. It is easily accessible by rail (35 minutes from Waterloo), air (5 miles from Heathrow) or road (it lies in the corner of the M3 and M25).

It is well suited to be a host family centre for both our Young Learner Holiday English Courses and our term time programmes for School Groups. We have an experienced Local Organiser and a good number of families who are used to hosting foreign students.

The picturesque town buildings include a busy shopping centre as well as a fascinating museum which focuses on local history. Chertsey Recreation Ground can be used for outdoor games/activities, including tennis. There is also a huge amount of open space – the Chertsey Meads (0.5km from the town) – 170 acres of riverside and grassland which are perfect for boat trips, walking and wildlife.

There are sports centres in nearby Egham and Addlestone offering a variety of activities. Swimming can also be offered at a number of pools in the area.

Chertsey is close to one of England’s biggest and best theme parks (Thorpe Park), Hampton Court Palace, as well as the City of London.
