Barnstaple Host Family Centre
Barnstaple and nearby Bideford are historic market towns on the north coast of Devon, a region famous for its beautiful landscapes and friendly people.
Barnstaple and Bideford are both well known for tourism as they are so close to the family and surfing beaches of North Devon. Our students are able to live with families in and around this town. Groups visit the historical places with teachers as well as enjoying the modern shopping and leisure facilities.
Host Family Accommodation
- Full board accommodation is provided by our families
- Families personally selected by our Centre Director
- Families provide single or double bedrooms, all meals, washing of clothes
- With double placements, students may share with another student or family member of the same gender and similar age.
- Maximum of 3 students per family
- Students are integrated into family life each evening and all day on Sundays
Programme
Programme details
We run two week Holiday English Courses for Young Learners during October, February, June, July and August.
- English lessons every weekday morning for 3 hours ( 4 × 45 minutes).
- Every weekday afternoon a variety of sports and local cultural visits.
- A mid-week half day excursion every week
- Saturday full day excursions.
- Sundays with host families.
- One social evening activity per week.
Typical Excursions
- Tintagel – Merlin and the King Arthur story
- The city of Exeter – cathedral, Roman remains and shops
- Bude – sea and sand
