Plymouth Host Family Centre

Plymouth is seafront city on the border with Cornwall, built around the most important commercial and military harbour in South-West England, it was the gateway to the New World. It is now a thriving modern city with many cultural attractions. It has been a successful host family centre for SUL for at least 15 years.
• Plymouth has a modern shopping centre, with theatre, cinemas, bowling & ice skating
• The 17th century harbour of the Barbican is where Drake, the Pilgrim Fathers, Darwin and James Cook set sail from. Now Plymouth is a modern post war city, with some of the most modern attractions of the 20th and 21st century

HOST FAMILIES
Our host families are personally selected by our experienced Centre Director,
who also checks the programme details and cares for each group during their stay.

Each host family offers
• Full board accommodation in single or double bedrooms
• Doubles – sharing with another student or family member of the same gender and similar age
• An average of 2 but maximum of 4 students per family
• Integration in family life every evening and all day on Sundays

A TYPICAL DAY
0800 Breakfast with host family
0915 English lessons in a local school – 4× 45 minute lessons
1200 Lunch – packed lunch provided by the family
1400 Afternoon activities begin eg basketball, badminton, swimming, tennis, local visits
1700 Return to host families
1900 Once a week there is an organised social event eg a disco, bowling or cinema
