Chester lies on the river Dee, about 21 miles south of Liverpool in NW England.

The town was founded by the Romans who called it Deva Victrix. It became one of the Roman Province Britannia’s major settlements.

The Saxons took over the town then the Normans built a castle here.

It is reputed to be the ‘English medieval city’ par excellence, but many of its buildings date from Queen Victoria’s reign.

Our host families are personally selected by our experienced Falmouth Centre Director, who looks after the groups whilst they are staying in the city.

Families provide full board accommodation for students in two, three or four students per family. Families look after the students every evening.

Educational Visits may be planned and booked by the visiting school group or by Sul.
We are able to provide a guide or escort for the visits if requested.

There is also the option formal English lessons which link the language to the educational visits, enhancing the value of the trip for all school classes.

    Typical Educational Visits are

    - in Chester: the Dewa Roman Experience, Grosvenor Museum, Chester Castle and Chester Cathedral, Chester Zoo, one of Britain’s finest

    - Liverpool & the Maratime Museum

    - The Welsh borderlands are studded with castles and historic towns such as Conway Castle and Llangollen
