Chester
Chester lies on the river Dee, about 21 miles south of Liverpool in NW England.
The town was founded by the Romans who called it Deva Victrix.
It became one of the Roman Province Britannia’s major settlements.
The Saxons took over the town then the Normans built a castle here.
It is reputed to be the ‘English medieval city’ par excellence but many of its buildings date from Queen Victoria’s reign.
