SUL homestay courses in Plymouth are a great way to see real England. The friendly, seaside city of Plymouth, the capital of the far west of England, has far fewer international students than many British cities and has excellent shopping and leisure facilities. You will stay with a friendly English homestay family and classes are taught in groups of 1:12 at the university which is is within the city.

Plymouth offers fantastic facilities and is a wonderful base from which to explore the beaches, towns and sights of this incredible part of the country. Our course offers a surfing option for those who want to ride a wave!

Plymouth Homestay English summer school students

You want to have fun but you also want to speak lots of English too...

  • Your class will be a maximum of 12 students, much smaller than the average summer school class of 15 or more
  • 30 hours of English tuition (3 hours per day)
  • Our well trained, qualified and experienced English teachers are friendly and enthusiastic
  • Your level and interests will be assessed on arrival. Your lessons will be based on this assessment
  • You will be tested at the end of the course on the work you have covered
  • Your teacher is fully supported by the SUL academic management team
  • You will receive a certificate of achievement and a report on your progress

On-site Welfare with SUL Language Schools

SUL gives the highest priority to students’ safety and happiness. Our reputation Is based on our ability to respond positively to agent and parent concerns:

  • Junior English students are supervised by an adult at all times
  • All adults working with SUL are vetted, interviewed and have their documentation checked on an annual basis
  • Junior English students are issued with ID cards and an emergency phone number for the SUL 24 hour emergency line
  • Junior English students on group courses are put into welfare groups of 1:8 with caring staff member
  • Junior English students will be asked for feedback on their stay at the half way point and again at the end, allowing us to act on any issues that arise
  • We have on-site first aiders on residential courses and established links with local doctors, dentists and hospitals
  • All of our centres have a Centre or Course Director who is responsible for ensuring that our junior students remain happy & healthy throughout their stay
